Our Coaching Institute Graduates
Name: Hannah Burr
Your previous job:
Mediator for Massachusetts District Courts, and professional visual artist.
How long did you work there?
2 Years, art for 13 years.
What was your position?
Mediator
When/why did you decide to learn coaching?
As a professional visual artist, I’ve always seen my employment as a complement to my art practice. I’ve worked as a designer, usability specialist, project manager, art instructor, and mediator, and found that in all of these positions I played the role of clarifying, clearly articulating and developing a complex idea, either one on one or in a group.
What symptoms did you have that prompted this career change decision?
A 9 to 5 workplace was deadening to my spirits, and while working with others has complimented the creative work I do alone, I was truly ready to live my own mission, fully, authentically, and in my own way. From there, I am thrilled to help others to do the same for themselves.
What skills now benefit you and/or your company?
Two years of mediation and facilitation, the ability to think in metaphors and through principles of design, an overflowing toolbox, twelve years of meditation practice and twelve arms! I offer each session as a clearly defined, intentional, creative environment in which each client charts new territory, in good company, and sets off in a clear direction with a plan, support, and tools they choose and practice for themselves.
What do I do as a coach?
I help the Creative Pioneer© to discover, clarify and live his or her own individual mission.
Any other comments or examples you want to mention regarding how your training at The Coaching Institute has changed/benefited your life and/or career and those around you?
In this past year I’ve coached entrepreneurs, small business owners, writers, curators, teachers, professional visual artists, musicians, dancers and craftspeople and designers. I’ve been honored to accompany each person in the courageous and inspiring process of stepping into their power, wisdom, personal and professional potential. Amazing things happen from there.
If somebody has a question and wants to email you to ask personally – can they?
Of course! hannah@unfoldandenjoy.com
